Application for funding

A large dual sector Victorian University

We identified a funding opportunity for the University - a state government program established to put TAFEs on a more competitive footing and to increase the capacity of TAFEs to meet student, industry and community needs.  We assisted with the development and submission of a number of successful funding bids in the areas of learner support, program delivery, capability building and developing assets to meet community need.

Health check of eLearning Strategy Implementation

A transitions college of a Go8 university

High level assessment of the organisation’s progress implementing its eLearning Strategy and how this progress relates to best practice benchmarks.

Health Group Financial Analysis

A Queensland university

A financial analysis of the University’s Health Group. The university sought to better understand the cost structure of the Health Group and how this compares to equivalent groups at other universities with a view to understanding, for example, what a sustainable contribution margin for the Group might be. The analysis contributed to the 2017 budget development.

Optimising the university resource allocation model

A large regional university in NSW

An independent analysis of the University's existing budget framework (the budget process and the budget model) and the development and recommendation of a new budget framework aimed at ensuring the University's financial sustainability.

Business case review

A state government major projects authority

We assisted and advised on meeting key Department of Treasury business case requirements for a major infrastructure project. This required an in-depth understanding of the relationship between social policy, complex financial arrangements, infrastructure requirements and the authorisation processes of government.

Review of state government schools

A state government department of education

We are members of the panel established by the government to undertake reviews of government schools in the state. In undertaking these reviews we conduct an in-depth examination of a school's performance by analysing the school's self-evaluation and other relevant data, and, where required, conduct intensive field work in the school, liaising with regional and central Department staff as required.

Financial turnaround strategy and implementation

A large dual sector Victorian University

Development of a model for financial planning and forecasting and provision of advice regarding financial strategies to cope with funding cuts and other financial exigencies. This advice included quantifying the staff savings required, assisting with the achievement of the strands of the organisational reform program, and helping to cost and prioritise strategic initiatives.

The project also involved understanding and improving student retention and aligning administration processes for efficiency gains.

Review of the service delivery model for student amenities

Review of a University's Student Amenities Association service delivery model

Financial sustainability strategy for a $400m+ faculty

A Go8 University

Independent assessment of the financial position of the Faculty including identifying the broad profitability of the key activities undertaken by the Faculty, across teaching, research, commercial and other activities.

Student Services and Amenities Fee Key Performance Indicators

A Go8 University

Development of a key performance indicator (KPI) framework to underpin and extend the work the University has undertaken with the student organisations since the introduction of the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) in 2012.
