Design and production of a training package, including an online resource, for state government school council members, to enhance the capabilities of school council members through improved knowledge and skills.
The training package features content and resources in four modules: induction; strategic planning; financial management; and policy development and review. As government school councils are established for the purposes of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (the Act) and operate under the Act, its constituting Orders, the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2007 and government policy, the content of the training package reflects school councillor responsibilities and school management activities accurately. Extensive user consultation, both within the Department and externally, was undertaken to develop the training package.
