Advice regarding impact of Commonwealth Government higher education funding changes

A University in Queensland

This project provided advice to the University on the financial impacts for the University of the 2014-15 Budget measures, assessed the relative levels of international student fees at the University and other universities, and developed metrics for assessing domestic student demand and possible price sensitivity by program to inform the setting of undergraduate fees.

Regional Universities Network

Strategic advice to the Regional Universities Network, a network of six universities with headquarters in regional Australia, regarding the potential outcomes of fee deregulation on these universities. The impacts were modelled, policy advice provided and a paper prepared regarding a proposed market adjustment fund to give the regional universities flexibility to respond to change.

Evaluation of Tertiary Pathways Project

A state government department of education

The project considered the development of three Associate Degree Programs by the Department in partnership with a range of university and industry partners. The evaluation was focused on five key areas: the extent to which progress has been made towards integrating VET and HE, improvements in administrative processes including student tracking and enrolment, factors that support successful partnerships, targeting and gains in access by disadvantaged groups and an identification of innovations and potential future directions.

Funding Policy Paper

Universities Australia

Strategic advice to Universities Australia, the peak body representing universities, regarding the potential outcomes of the 2014-15 Budget. This advice included modelling of the impact of the proposed funding changes and fee deregulation, and an analysis of the impact of the proposed changes to student loans.

Market Validation

A private online educator

A market validation exercise to test a proposed business model in the Australian market for an online learning provider.  This was undertaken by obtaining understanding of the reaction to the various aspects of the model and its value proposition from universities identified by the client as possible new providers.

New program feasibility study

A University in NSW

Investigation into the feasibility of developing undergraduate programs in public health and health management at the University.

Development of regional growth strategy

A major regional university

The development of a strategy for a university for its presence in a regional area, to assist the strategic planning process. The outcome was a report that outlined the basis of a preferred growth plan for the University in the region.

Dynamic modelling and scenario development for tertiary education, with ACIL Allen Consulting

LH Martin Institute and DIICCSRTE

Provision of advice on higher education policy, and on model design and specification, to inform the development of a dynamic model and scenarios for tertiary education.

Singapore conference

A training event organiser

Participated in, chaired and led a roundtable discussion at the 2013 Strategic Finance and Management Accounting Forum held in Singapore. The conference brought together finance practitioners from around the region to share practical tips, tools and strategies for moving towards global best practice in financial management and management accounting, with discussion focused specifically in the context of the unique higher education environment.

Guiding a private education provider to successful initial registration and course accreditation with TEQSA

A private education provider

Provision of advice, direction and hands on assistance, including management of Academic Board and review and revision of curriculum content, for the providers successful application for registration as a higher education provider.
